It’s Unclear As To Who Invented Foosball

It’s true. What we do know is that the game has origins in Europe and existed there for some time before making its way over to the states. While the exact inventor of foosball remains shrouded in mystery, it is widely believed that the game developed in Europe during the late 19th century. The Longest Game (To Date)

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the longest doubles foosball game of all time is recorded at 61 hours and 17 minutes. Yes, that’s 61 hours — spanning from August 29th, 2012 to September 1st, 2012. Four Austrian players managed to achieve this feat, and we can’t even imagine the disappointment that the losing team most likely felt. That’s a lot of gameplay in over the course of three days, however, so we wouldn’t be complaining.

It’s Not Uncommon For Ball Speeds To Hit Up To 35 Miles Per Hour

Your average, just-for-fun player probably won’t be able to hit the ball nearly that fast, but competitive players are easily capable at hitting the ball around 25-30 miles per hour, sometimes even faster. That may not sound that fast, but when you think about the fact that this tiny ball is moving back and forth in a space as small as our foosball tables, that’s actually pretty remarkable.

Different Goalie Setups

Most competitive players know that players in different countries use different styles. When the United States vs Europe is concerned, this also includes playing with different styles of table soccer tables. While traditional European-style tables use a 3-man goalie rod, American-style tables usually only have a one-man goalie on each end rod.
